The underlying philosophy of Nasihah Consulting comes from the very title of our business – Nasihah.
Nasihah (Pronounced Na-see-hah) is an Arabic word commonly translated as ‘Sincere Advice / To counsel’.
Common of the depth and complexity of Arabic words, Nasihah means much more than simply ‘sincere advice’.
The word is made up of three Arabic letters as its base:
- Nun
- Suaad
- Ha
Nun is an Arabic letter used to indicate tranquillity, or contentment. A contentment found in silence. It is essentially about returning something to its original state. Interestingly the shape of the letter Nun is like a container, containing water or the fetal shape of an unborn baby in a womb.
This is important, because it has a lot to do with the original state of the human- silence, and that the human engages only when there is benefit. Keep this in mind as we go along with the semantics of the letters.
Suaad is the next sound and is in the middle and anchors the two letters, Nun and Ha.
The original essence of Suaad is to ‘re-train’. Its appearance in the middle infers the “transferring” of the first state (Nun) into the third (Ha). The Suaad transfers a state of silence into words only when it is retrained with wisdom.
The third and last letter is Ha. Ha always refers to “a factual reality”. Ha helps to articulate a clear truth. The seat of the letter is from the heart.
So the combination of the letters give us the following deep meaning of the word Nasihah:
Where an original silence is broken with wisdom (retrained thought) to articulate the truth.
This is a beautiful semblance for the word Nasihah.
Some additional information.
Nasaha (the base word for Nasihah), refers to anything pure, and often referred to good honey. Many other words with this derivative have a connotation of “sweetness”.
Therefore Nasihah is articulated thought brought forth which carries wisdom and is sweet or beneficial.
